Lechler and Corporate Sustainability

Lechler, in its journey towards the future, places great emphasis on the theme of corporate sustainability and technological innovation for the development of its paint products. The company's relationship with the environment thus plays a primary role.

Traditionally, in an effort to mitigate the environmental footprint of our products, as well as their safety and health impacts, actions have been taken to reduce the content of volatile organic compounds emitted during the product application phase, through the development of water-based and high-solid product technologies.

Currently, the problem of greenhouse gas emissions, especially CO2, represents a significantly relevant issue in evaluating a product's impacts.

For this reason, a more general and comprehensive approach was conceived that goes beyond the traditional one and takes into account a series of direct and indirect environmental impacts related to the product and its use.

Indeed, it is recognized that there are additional aspects in the lifecycle of a paint that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, especially CO2.

Product Sustainability Index

In this regard, a product sustainability index has been defined, universal and cross-sectional for all Lechler's businesses (Product Sustainability Index), structured on various weighted factors, encapsulated in four macro-impact categories: AIR, WATER, RESOURCES, and DISPOSAL.

Elementi

In addition to meeting specific product compliance, sustainable products offer an additional level of sustainability. This approach goes beyond minimum requirements and represents a deep commitment by the company to promote innovative and planet-friendly solutions.

The index is representative of the evaluation of different factors. However, there are entry thresholds for each factor that, even in the case of a single exceedance, can preclude the product's classification.

Products above 400 points are defined as sustainable and distinguished into three different categories: A, B, and C.

Rating

A logo has been created that exemplifies this classification by placing little leaves above the product's class of belonging. The logo will be present on all the cans of sustainable products.
