Maccaferri Futura: the new Class 40 of sailor Luca Rosetti launched in Genoa

Yesterday, the Class 40 Maccaferri Futura was launched — the new state-of-the-art monohull of ocean sailor Luca Rosetti, created in collaboration with Officine Maccaferri.

The technical launch took place at the Calata Gadda docks in Genoa, in front of the Sangiorgio Marine shipyard, with the entire Maccaferri Futura team present to celebrate a key milestone after eight months of intense work.
Designed by Gianluca Guelfi and Fabio D’Angeli, the Musa40 Maccaferri Futura is a high-performance, approximately 12-meter-long vessel, built to compete reliably in ocean races in one of the most recognized offshore sailing classes internationally.

“The launch of Maccaferri Futura is a moment of great emotion and pride for me. It’s the result of months of passionate work by an exceptional team that, together with Officine Maccaferri, believed in an ambitious project from day one. It’s a balanced, fast boat, designed to give its best in any condition,” commented Luca Rosetti.
“With Maccaferri Futura, our goal goes beyond the boat itself: we aim to encourage the Class 40 to reflect on evolving regulations that promote the research and use of sustainable materials,” he added.

Sustainability and innovation are the pillars of Maccaferri Futura, which stands out not only for its sporting performance but also for its advanced research on materials. The monohull, built mainly from fiberglass and epoxy resin, includes components made from innovative and eco-friendly materials. This also applies to the innovative bio-based transparent coatings by Stoppani, formulated with 30% certified renewable raw materials.
