There are not many circulating examples of the wonderful Alvis 4.3, the car introduced on the market in 1936 by the car manufacturer of the same name, as production was soon stopped following the conversion of the plant to war production in 1940.
Nick Croucher, an English coachbuilder from Christchurch specialising in "Vintage & Classic Car Restorations", has managed to bring an original Alvis 4.3 back to the street following the traditional methods of building carriages: ash frame, aluminium panels, prepared and painted with products and Lechler painting processes, approved for old-timer cars.
Here are the details:
for the outer shell and chassis the following products were used:
The clearcoat on the car body and the doors was necessarily air dried, as the wooden structure did not allow to be placed in the spray booth for low baking.
For the chassis, the suspensions and the frames the following products were used
This wonderful example of Alvis 4.3 is now in circulation and will participate in numerous international old-timer car events, such as Cannes in the south of France, Essen in Germany and Beaulieu Vintage Car Show in the south of England.
