It was impossible for us not to be keen on the project presented by Prof. Mottola: bringing back to life the historical little Rivarossi trains through an exhibition in Como heath. People passionate in model collecting and thousands of little children came to visit this wonderful exhibition which has been organised in Como, Palazzo del Broletto, from 14th to 28th  April.

The exhibition titled “Rivarossi masterpieces of an Italian myth in the world” paid tribute to a Company from Como, a symbol of Made in Italy in high quality  model collecting for entire generations. The Company has been recently bought by Hornby. Rivarossi is train models in scale HO,  always synonymous of prestige and reliability (it has been named by passionate “the equivalent of Ferrari for trains”! )  which was introduced into the market with the first model AE 2002 FNM in 1946 obtaining great success.

In 1995 the unique exhibition was organised in Italy to celebrate Rivarossi’s half a century history  by Museo Nazionale della Scienza e Tecnica Leonardo Da Vinci in Milan. The exhibition in Como Broletto, has been organised by arch. Albano, the author of the Rossi’s monument in Sagnino Como. He has represented a travelogue, a “show room” way among the well-known little train masterpieces of the double R, expressly selected for this occasion, some of them coming from the British historical museum. Objects and catalogues have been shown in 8 smart boxes and in 5 volumes surrounding a wonderful scale model covering 24 square metres.

The best core model was the “Cardinals Train”,  the flame red little model painted with the well-known Lechler “Plastifan” celebrating  in 1985, the first 40 years of Rivarossi’s activities. Great success also for the quality of Lechler products, contributing to underline these little historical models’ greatness.
