Marco Zimmermann, founding designer of the Swiss brand Hb Eyewear, has always had a passion for glasses. Maniac of "beautiful but comfortable", he dedicated time and passion to the research of perfection.
Since childhood, he began using sandpaper and colors on his glasses, experimenting with solutions that were creative but also comfortable. Starting from the consideration that in the last decades the signed glasses did not guarantee aesthetics and comfort, Marco Zimmermann has undertaken the way of design right on the two lenses tirelessly: so he founded the Hb Eyewear Switzerland in 2014.
His aim was to produce glasses that are equally comfortable to touch and to wear, no matter if its deep winter or in the middle of a hot summer. Glasses that aren’t slipping down your nose, that aren’t falling off if dancing or bending over, and that aren’t leaving deep red marks on your nose and behind your ears. And glasses whose temples, that need to be readjusted at the optician all the time, aren’t causing headaches because of the pressure behind the ears and on the sides of your head.
After months of studying ergonomics, Marco developed an entirely new manufacturing engineering process in order to reach the ultimate wear comfort whilst also meeting the demands of opticians regarding glazing and individual adjustments.
State-of-the-art high precision production techniques are basically just giving the traditional master handcraft a hand: 72 production steps are exclusively executed by the highly experienced hands of craftsmen who pass on their knowledge about wood and its processing.
It’s their hands that make the identity of the wood, a natural material so rich in tradition, visible, tangible, and wearable. And it’s the use of IVE’s water-based products which ensures that the woods’ unique haptics remain intact in any pair of finished Hb glasses and sunglasses. Moreover, it also ensures their surface is skin-friendly and their production environment-friendly.
The final result are ultra-lightweight, ultra-stable, versatile and timelessly modern, glasses and sunglasses of unparalleled high quality which creates a milestone in the eyewear industry.
